Featuring durian cakes, pastries, drinks and even dim sum, this annual durian festival happens from 10 March to 31 July
Spoiler alert: This article might either make you gag, or have you drooling by the end of it.
Love it or hate it, you can’t deny the prominent reputation of the durian, Singapore’s very own King of Fruits. If this doesn’t make you cover your nose by reflex, then you’ll be chuffed to hear that durian season is coming soon, and we can usually count on one hotel that takes its durian festivities very seriously.
Branching out from one of Singapore’s most iconic hotels is Goodwood Park Hotel’s annual Durian Fiesta, that takes place from early March to 31 July. But instead of requiring you to sit by the roadside and cracking shells open on your own (head to Geylang if that’s what you’re into), Goodwoord Park Hotel adapts the thorny fruit – and the creamy, piquant treasure that lies within – into cakes, pastries, coffee, and even dim sum!
Using premium-grade durians like D24 and Mao Shan Wang – these varieties pack the richest flavours in the world of durians – this 34-year-old fiesta will showcase 14 different confections, including six new creations. These include the D24 ‘Starry Starry Night’ Ice Cream Cake, the D24 Cashew Nut Crumble Tartlet, D24 Matcha Cake, and even a D24 Salted Caramel Cuppa if you need a caffeine boost. Want an all-you-can-eat durian feast? Make sure you head down to the hotel’s Coffee Lounge for its durian dessert buffet, happening from 27 May to 31 July.
Yeah, you might wanna pop a couple of breath mints after you’re done.
