The path to a smooth and spotless complexion is skin deep – we discover just how effective pigment removal treatments are
You know the ol’ summertime mantra: slip, slop, slap. If there’s one beauty faux pas that I’m all too guilty of, it’s not using enough sunscreen. I was never really bothered by the lack of proper UV protection – until pigmentation spots started sneaking up on my complexion. Talk about a reality check!
Dore Aesthetics’ Pigment Removal Treatment seemed like the logical next step in my spot-eliminating quest (after all, I had to step up my beauty game). This non-invasive laser procedure promises to target the melanin within the affected areas, with visible results as early as three weeks following the treatment. Sounds too good to be true? Well, I was about to find out for myself.
Professional service? You bet.
Located right in the heart of the CBD, the sleek set-up occupies two sprawling units on the fourth floor of SBF Center at 160 Robinson Road. Dore Aesthetics boasts a Google review rating of 4.1 stars and it’s no wonder – with affable staff and comfortable waiting areas, you’ll be at ease in no time.
My consultation was frank and matter-of-fact as I was given a no-holds-barred breakdown of what to expect during the procedure, as well as its possible side effects. I have to admit, I was pretty apprehensive about it, especially when it could involve a breakout of acne or hives in extreme cases. Still, I decided to put my big girl pants on and let vanity overrule all fears.
Taking the plunge…
To be honest, I actually didn’t know what to expect. Aside from skimming details of the procedure online, I skipped any further research on the experience (oops). First, we started with the more intense pigment removal laser, which targets stubborn blemishes. The hot, searing sensation was concentrated on a minute spot on my cheek but thankfully, the uncomfortable process was over in a flash. Next up, the slightly more forgiving laser toning treatment—said to help reduce pigmentation and improve overall skin tone and texture—felt like prickly ant bites administered in rapid doses. The entire pigment removal treatment was a mere 10 to 15 minutes, which was more than enough for me.
After meticulously covering all problem areas, my skin was finally soothed with a fancy Aduro face mask that uses a combination of different LED colours to treat imperfections such as signs of aging and acne, and also boost cell regeneration for a ‘younger’ complexion.
… And the aftermath
There was a small welt on the targeted pigmentation spot, which was replaced by a dark scab the next day. Of course, some downtime was required for its recovery. I was advised to avoid sun exposure and increase my moisturiser sunscreen application throughout the next two weeks. For those who are concerned about over complicating their usual beauty routine, there really was minimal after-care needed in my case. While I was told that the scab should heal within a week or two, it dropped off after three days without leaving a mark. My face felt dry and tight during the weekend after my procedure, but the results were almost instantaneous. Most patients typically require a couple of treatments before seeing any visible improvements – however, my complexion seemed smoother, with lesser blemishes. A-mazing.
Would I return again? Hell, yes. One thing’s for sure – if you want fast and effective results, you might want to consider this pigment removal treatment. Trust me, it’ll be worth it!
