Chris Donnellan, former head chef at Melbourne’s Gingerboy and Southeast Asian food specialist, will be taking over Ding Dong’s kitchen for three exclusive dinners! From 11-13 March, Chris will draw inspiration from his revered Southeast Asian dishes and craft a tasting menu at $75++ per pax. You can expect a delectable spread (also available a-la carte) like picked crab prepared with betal leaf, pomelo, and dressed in sweet and sour tamarind, crispy fried duck leg served with banana blossom salad, and a Vietnamese honey parfait for dessert. Dive into a lavish crustacean feast at Ellenborough Market Café this March! From 7-23 March, this crab-tastic buffet will be available for lunch on weekends and for dinner daily. You’ll be spoiled for choice with over 40 classic and novel dishes from a medley of seafood on ice, cold appetizers, warm crab soups, Asian-inspired crab mains, and a slew of local and western desserts. Be sure to check out the live culinary demonstrations every Tuesday and Wednesday evening between 7-730pm! Lunch will cost you $54++ per adult and $27++ per child, while dinner is slightly pricier at $62++ per adult and $31++ per child.
Street 50 Restaurant and Bar is rolling out a brand new series of Asian-inspired buffets Roulette of Flavours where each week, a chosen Southeast Asian cuisine – Vietnamese, Thai, Malaysian, or Indonesian – will take center-stage. The buffet is priced at $32++ per adult, $16++ per child, with the option of free-flow drinks with an additional $8++ per pax. Fans of Thai cuisine will be delighted by delicacies like tender duck in red curry and spicy chicken with coconut, while the Indonesian ayam lemak with chilli padi (prepared with chicken and chunky pineapples) will surely tantalise the palate.
The best of Italian culinary tradition meets the finesse of Japanese culture at Caffe B. Showcasing old world and Japanese ingredients, prepared using classic Italian techniques, you can expect artfully crafted creations presented in delicate Japanese Kaiseki (multi-course) style. Indulge in wine pairings from Caffe B’s exclusive offering of Italian wines from the il Pollenza estate, or try their specially imported Japanese wines and Japanese-inspired cocktails.
How does wine-paired Spanish fare sound? Catalunya is offering a one-night only Vega Sicilia wine dinner, in collaboration with the esteemed Spanish winery. Savour signature dishes prepared by Catalunya’s executive chef Alain Devahive and his team, like Catalunya tartar, traditional suckling pig ‘Segovian’ style, porcini mushroom carpaccio, and pigeon rice with foie gras, while sipping on glorious wines like Oremus Dry Furmint 2012, Vega Sicilia Unico 2004, and Oremus 6 Puttonyos.
