Set aside your usual uproarious raves and gigs for a low-key evening with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at the Victoria Concert Hall
Head banging to heavy metal, dancing up a storm to infectious EDM beats or singing along to the latest pop hits – it’s no secret that the Honeycombers team are huge music heads! (psst… just check out our eclectic monthly concerts round-up.) But when we want to take a break from high-energy raves and booming gigs, our go-to is an intimate classical concert, especially when it’s by the talented folks of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO). What’s more, they’re giving us the royal treatment with the monarchical-themed SSO Chamber Series: For the Emperor, and it’s all happening from 11 to 12 August!
Sit back and let the SSO serenade you with some of the best classical pieces from Haydn and Mozart composed for both royalty and aristocracy. Be treated to Haydn’s Emperor Quartet, Austria’s national anthem from 1797 to 1918, and Mozart’s Prussian Quartets, which were written for the Prussian King. While you can expect an experience that’s fit for royalty, this concert features an intimate and cosy setting with a handful of select musicians taking the stage – so you’ll be able to listen to the crystal-clear sounds of each instrument.
For those who just can’t get enough of classical music’s heavyweights, drop by the concert rehearsal on 12 August at 10am. Ticket holders will be able to catch a glimpse of how SSO musicians prep for their shows, and perhaps sneak a peek of the evening’s performance!
