Skip the prep and make your way to Fairmont Singapore for an impressive array of Chinese New Year reunion dinner options
Just when you thought the New Year festivities are done and dusted, Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Not that we’re complaining, of course – we’ll take any excuse to indulge!
Chef specials we love
The flurry of spring cleaning and shopping activities might leave little time to plan a reunion dinner, which is why we have Szechuan Court at Fairmont Singapore on speed dial. The restaurant offers a variety of CNY musts, including the Prosperity Pot of Gold, Szechuan Court’s interpretation of the traditional pen cai. It comes with premium ingredients that’s associated with the dish: whole abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber and roasts braised in a rich chicken broth.
We also can’t go past the scallops and Maine lobster, sautéed in an umami X.O chilli sauce. At $68 ++ per portion, it’s a treat that’s worth every bite. The weight-watchers (we are not judging) can opt for the double-boiled soup with Korean ginseng, simmered with fish maw and sea cucumber for up to 10 hours – a healthier and nourishing option.
Tossing into the Year of the Dog
Let’s talk about the all-important yusheng. This medley of julienned vegetables is a Chinese New Year fixture here and no dinner is complete without a toss for good luck. There are salmon sashimi, snow crab, abalone, lobster and vegetarian choices available, all dressed in a tantalising sweet plum and tangy kumquat sauce. Just huat are you waiting for?
Let’s start with eight courses…
Feasting with extended family or a big gang of friends? You’ll want in on the lunch or dinner set menus, comprising eight- to nine courses for groups of four, six, eight and 10. Depending on which you choose, they feature top-quality items like sauteed lobster, steamed grouper and bird’s nest, as well as Chinese New Year signatures by chef Mok. Of course, Fairmont Singapore caters to vegetarians as well – the yam rice roll, stir-fried noodles, and abalone and mushroom dishes are all part of the eight-course vegetarian set menu, available at $98 per person.
Szechuan Court has all of your CNY dinner needs covered, so find out more about the special offers and make a reservation now.
