Classic (and delicious) Singapore hawker dishes from the ’80s make a comeback at this Singapore Food Festival event in Chinatown Food Street on 29 July.
The best thing about food festivals? All the food samples you can try. The worst? Well, nobody likes having to shell out so much for small plates and samples – which is why the 50 Cents Festival is going to be great for cash-strapped foodies, or anyone who loves food, really.
Held on 29 and 30 July, the 50 Cents Festival is part of the Singapore Food Festival’s activities at Chinatown Food Street, and in its fourth consecutive year. The name of the festival is exactly what its name promises – that all the food will start from the very economical price of 50 cents.
The two-day event will get a retro ’80s makeover, so you can expect to try some nostalgic Singapore hawker dishes like Rickshaw Noodle, UFO (Fried Oyster Cake), Red Glutinous Wine Chicken, Ice Ball and more from the yesteryear of Singapore by old-school, mobile hawkers.
On top of food, there’ll be classic games and memorabilia you can check out in the area too. Get ready to feast and soak up the ’80s vibe at the 50 Cents Festival – and let’s see how you can stretch that dollar.
