The popular underground club in Singapore is throwing one last hurrah before it officially closes this weekend
While we’ve been relieved to witness the recent revival of clubs like Kilo Lounge and Refuge, one of our beloved party hangouts is, unfortunately, taking a bow. Bumming us out is the shattering news of CATO’s closure – the trendy club along South Bridge Road will be throwing its final string of parties this weekend before calling it a day.
CATO has been quintessential in pushing the underground dance scene in Singapore; a diamond in the rough amongst more commercial-favouring establishments. Starting out in July 2015 with a hip restaurant space beneath the shenanigans upstairs, CATO evolved into a haven of house and techno, promoting themed nights such as Leftbank and District, fostering homegrown DJs, and hosting monumental guest acts like Heiko Laux, Ø [Phase], and Scarlett Etienne, just to name a few. It’s a true shame to see this place go, but rest assured we’ll keep you in the loop about what the folks behind the brand get up to next.
In the meantime, keep supporting your favourite clubs! You’ll never know when another one might bite the dust.
