Resistance is futile when it comes to Prego’s family-style spread of authentic Italian fare
Sure, it’s easy to fall back on the usual pizzas or pastas for a hearty and satisfying meal, but as most of you foodies would know – there’s more to Italian food than quick takeaways or an easy carb fix. Serving up comforting plates of traditional Italian cuisine for over twenty years, Prego at Fairmont Singapore has been consistently pushing out classic favourites that even la nonna would approve.
If you haven’t already made Prego your go-to for a reliable Italian feast, there’s a good reason why you should dine there, pronto! The restaurant’s chef de cuisine, Antonio Facchinetti, has introduced a couple of new dishes to its menu that are oh-so-tantalising (weight-watchers, proceed with caution). For starters, he pays homage to Liguria–a coastal region in north-western Italy–with polpo alla griglia, or chargrilled octopus served with potatoes and salsa verde. The wagyu carpaccio, garnished with shaved parmesan, and truffle dressing, is a must if you’re kicking back with a glass of vino.
We can’t have a proper Italian pig-out without pastas, and the cavatelli con nduja is a major step up from the usual spaghetti Bolognese. The dish comes loaded with fresh tomatoes, spicy nduja sausage (a spreadable pork salumi from Calabria) and pecorino cheese. Looking for a more wholesome option? You’re in luck! The cappellacci di zucca con ragu bianco, is a traditional Lombardian recipe that combines pasta stuffed with butternut pumpkin with white Bolognese sauce.
You’ll want to save some space for another mouthwatering highlight, the braciola di maiale. Featuring roasted pork chops served with mustard cream, it’s a solid choice for meat lovers and a great addition to a carb-heavy feast. If you can’t make time for a leisurely meal, Prego also offers a fuss-free platter for the busy weekday lunch crowd – order the piatto unico express business lunch platter, which comes with mesclun salad, spinach ricotta ravioli, and the fish-of-the-day, all available at $55++. Got a power lunch coming up? Then look no further!
