Forget about typical, tourist-y things to do in Singapore; Trips by Airbnb lets you experience tours, workshops, and unique activities in the city
Swinging by for a short stay in Singapore? For sure, we have plenty of boutique hotels in Singapore, but I still believe that to truly experience the essence and character of a city, you’ve got to live like a local in his or her own home. Without question, that’s one nail Airbnb hits right on the head.
If I’m preaching to the choir and you’re already an Airbnb advocate, good; there’s no reason for me to go on. What I do wanna bring up, however, is Airbnb’s latest development that launched in November last year in Los Angeles, and has just arrived in Singapore as its first Southeast Asian market. Introducing Trips by Airbnb.
The concept is genius: instead of checking out typical;, tourist-y things to do in Singapore, let locals and insider guides curate exclusive itineraries for you instead. With programmes like artisanal dumpling workshops by soon kueh experts who will tell you more about kueh in Singapore, pottery sessions where you’ll get to forge your own dragon kiln, and even a cooking class in a new-age kampung that relies on urban farming, you’ll see a side of Singapore that truly immerses you in the heart of the multi-cultural, garden city. These activities are packaged as Experiences, and it’s the next chapter of Airbnb that’s sure to get visitors – and even locals – excited.
Later this year, Airbnb is set on launching its Places initiative, which will let Airbnb hosts pitch in with their own city recommendations. But ’til then, let Airbnb give you an Experience like no other.
