When the world’s biggest names in interior design and home décor come together in one place, ‘design heaven’ wouldn’t even begin to describe it. A landmark event like no other, MAISON&OBJET Asia is back for the second year running.
Returning to Singapore after its triumphant debut last year, this premier design and lifestyle trade show is a truly world class affair that brings together over 300 exhibiting brands from more than 25 countries right at our doorstep. From bespoke furniture to lighting, textiles, and home accessories, MAISON&OBJET Asia 2015 is every design aficionado’s (wet) dream come true.
The event takes place at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre until 13 March. Before making your way down there, here are our top picks of MAISON&OBJET ASIA 2015:
AKAR de NISSIM
It has been only a year since it launched at MAISON&OBJET 2014, but AKAR de NISSIM is already making waves – thanks to its signature line of high-end luxury furniture and home accessories. Here, it is obvious that quality craftsmanship is paramount with its distinctive East-meets-West aesthetic that is both quietly lavish and elegant.
pols potten
One standout exhibitor that caught our eye is pols potten. Clearly with these guys, the louder, the better. Fun, funky, and quirky, the homewares range is a total riot. From animal figurines to Day-Glo neon candleholders and industrial-chic wire lamps, we wanted them all.
Supermama
Part store, part local artist residency studio, Supermama creates some of the coolest gifts we know. Their products toe the line between cultural artefacts, everyday objects, and basic luxury goods – like Singapore Icons: a stunning collection of Kihara porcelain ware that celebrates local icons and landmarks.
Universo Positivo
As fans of Universo Positivo, it’s no surprise that the furniture brand is one of our top picks. With sleek lines, Scandinavian-inspired design, and pops of bright colour, their collection is pretty darn covetable – we couldn’t resist picking out a couple of pieces for our dream home!
Anne-Claire Petit
It may be targeted at the little ones but adults too will love Anne-Claire Petite. This children’s company from the Netherlands carries a collection of toys and accessories – every single piece is crocheted by hand. Try as hard you may, but there’s no resisting the delightfully whimsical gems like the giant toadstool/footstool and hanging moose head.
Covetable homewares aside, MAISON&OBJET ASIA 2015 is also where you can get up close with design’s brightest talents. Over four days, a series of panel discussions and keynote speeches with big names like renowned interior designers Kelly Hoppen and Laurence Llewelyn Bowen will take place at the Interior Design & Lifestyle Summit.
Tickets to MAISON&OBJET ASIA 2015 are priced at $35 and can be bought at the event. It is open to the general public on Friday 13 March from 12-6pm.
