Calling all Bookworms!

The right book is a powerful weapon. Hours of entertainment. Good for their brains, and it makes the perfect gift. Here’s our pick of the best books out there to make your shopping easier for the under 5’s.

Under 2’s: The Classics

Small fingers have never been able to resist the tiny hole through which the very hungry caterpillar crawls in The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It’s dinner time but Where’s Spot? The delights of a simple game of hide-and-seek are explored in the bright pages of this flap book.

Under 2’s: Surprise!

Dear Zoo is the perfect flap book if your little ones like anticipation. The Odd Egg will delight when the egg finally cracks open. And watching the jungle thieves in Handa’s Surprise while Handa has no idea of the fate of the fruits in her basket will keep your kids on the edge of their seats.

Under 2’s: Family time

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt captures all the excitement of a family day out. They’re not scared…or are they? Or discover how three baby owls look after themselves while mum is out in Owl Babies.

Under 5’s: Wild Animals

In Goodnight Moon, a pyjama’d rabbit tries to delay lights-out by bidding goodnight to everything in his room. Or follow the Elephant and the Bad Baby as they go “rumpeta, rumpeta, rumpeta, all down the road”. In The Snail and The Whale, size isn’t everything – you’ll never guess who saves the day.

Under 5’s: Wild Times

Get the book that inspired the movie – Where The Wild Things Are. Your little fans won’t be disappointed. And unfortunately, the only person who pays attention to Bernard in Not Now, Bernard is the monster in the garden – who eats him up, “every bit”. Your kids will love the image of the rejected monster plodding glumly up to bed.

Skip down to Kinokunya and Borders. Shopping for the kids has never been easier. And if you’re keen for more inspiration, check out the NY Times Bestsellers List.
