Andra Matin transformed Potato Head Family’s Attarine’s dining space into a beautiful restaurant-wise installation for Ramadan.
No doubt, Ramadan is one of the most wonderful seasons of the year to catch up with family and friends through plenty of buka puasa get-togethers. That’s why so many dining spots are always cooking up something special to keep us dining out. Attarine, one of our favourite restaurants in Jakarta, went a step further and collaborated with local star architect Andra Matin to create a beautiful restaurant-wide installation that is definitely worth the visit.
Attarine’s wide-open dining space is installed with wispy white fabrics that divide the usually large room into several parts, giving quite a change in visuals and atmosphere of the restaurant. These beautiful fabric partitions make the dining experience more intimate – perfect for an occasion as collective as buka puasa bersama since it amplifies the spirit of having good conversation while breaking the fast.
Andra’s inspiration came from his latest journey to several Mediterranean countries that include Morocco, Alhambra, Cordoba and Granada. To max out the concept, he also created a set of ornate Mediterranean lampshades with dimmed lighting that worked perfectly to resemble the iconic traditional tents of the region.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Executive Chef Jacob Burell worked together with Andra Matin to cook up two 3- course Indonesian-inspired buka puasa menus that includes Takjils (try their dates pistachio, so good!), mains and desserts.
We got our hands on Set Menu A featuring a tender Crispy Chicken Leg with spiced honey drizzle as the main show and we were incredibly happy with the decision. It comes with a ladle of aromatic lentil rice, or a plate of butter rice for those who prefer that. Dessert was either vanilla or chocolate cinnamon ice cream.
While we loved our set of choice, we couldn’t help but eye those who went for Set Menu B: with Slow Cooked Short Ribs as the main course, and a Vanilla Panna Cotta as their dessert. Well, that just calls for our next buka puasa visit at Attarine, we suppose!
This amazing collaboration is ongoing throughout Ramadan until 24 June 2017. Price starts at IDR 275,000 for set menu A and IDR 325,000 for set menu B.
