Formerly known as Mon Décor Gallery, the newly renamed Art:1 is one of the best art institutions in the city. Its impressive façade is on par with some of the finest art galleries and museums in the world. Besides hosting exhibitions by both world-renown and local artists, Art:1 provides an art space for emerging artists, as well as other arts services.

As one of the longest-running contemporary art galleries in town, Edwin’s gallery promotes young, contemporary and emerging local artists like Heri Dono, Nyoman Masriadi, Sigit Santoso and Sunaryo who have all gone and made a name for themselves in the international art world. Edwin’s Gallery has hosted more than 150 exhibitions, cementing its reputation as one of the masters of the Jakarta’s art scene.

RUCI Art Space
With their recent grand opening, RUCI Art Space is a new player in the Jakarta art scene that aims to encourage the public’s appreciation of art and thus bring art to the masses in a refreshingly accessible way. Located just off Senopati on Jalan Suryo, this industrial art gallery is a raw space that reminds you of downtown NYC. Notable exhibitions include Y: Collect, an exhibition inspiring young people to start collecting art pieces, and their signature interactive art performances during opening night are always a highlight.

Artsphere Gallery, located in the trendy Kemang Icon, serves as a creative platform where artists, collectors, curators, art lovers, and art associates meet. Featuring modern, contemporary pieces from young emerging Indonesian and foreign talents, the space is only open on certain days, so make sure to call ahead before visiting.

Though located further in North Jakarta, Galeri Canna is an impressive space that is worth the visit. Not only do they showcase the local talents of emerging artists under their own roof, Galeri Canna actively joins exhibitions in international art fairs in order to promote rising Indonesian talents.
