The newly launched natural supplement brand encourages Jakartans to live their most natural lives.
City living has its perks and all, but the constant go! go! go! can easily take a toll on anybody’s health. After watching natural health practitioner Tjok Gde Kerthyasa travel through the villages and forests in Yogyakarta, Kalimantan, and Kerinci Seblat National Park in the beautifully captured “In Search of Relief Sari” series by Davy Linggar, we can’t help but find ourselves dreaming of leaving it all for a simpler life. Surely we all can’t just up and leave our desks to trek through the beautiful tropical forests in search of natural remedies ala Tjok Gde Kerthyasa, fortunately there’s the new relief sari Herbana, nutritional supplements niftily packaged in easy-to-consume capsules that contain herbal turmeric, cinnamon, and temulawak (Javanese ginger). These little tablets are fortified with natural remedies for all kinds of urban ailments.
As a brand, Herbana also encourages urbanites to live a natural life and that’s why during their launch, they co-hosted a series of workshops at our favourite maker space in town. We were thrilled to be able to return to Indoestri to attend the Natural Dyeing Technique workshop with Mrs. Sancaya Rini of Kana Goods as a part of Herbana’s #NaturalUrbanLiving event.
We spent the first hours learning about dying with plant material and wrapping up our bundles of fabrics to dye. Then, we head to Dawn and Willow at Indoestri to enjoy our lunch while we waited for the dye to set, and no one was disappointed with the amazing results. It was incredible to see how mixing locally available plants and water could produce so many different and beautiful colours. The possibilities really are endless. At the end we even got to play with a little bit of indigo (our all time fave colour)! It was so satisfying to make colours in the workshop that were so much more pleasing to the eye (and touch) than colours of fabric at the big box stores. It was so empowering to watch the colours form in the fibre in front of us, especially when we got to take our own self-made shawl home.
Now to incorporate natural living in all other aspects of our life!
