In this month's edition of Hot New Tables: Toby’s Estate, Alto at Four Seasons, Correlate, Burgreens Express and 8 Treasures
From Chinese hot pot to specialty coffee, we present the city’s fresh new openings to get your tastebuds tantalized in 2017.
Keep toasty this rainy season with a hearty and healthy hot pot experience at the newly opened 8 Treasures. The Chinese restaurant has all the makings for a fantastic comfort meal with individual copper hot pots filled with bubbling herbal soup. Start with healthy gourmet soup bases (our favourite was the oh-so-flavourful sharks broth), and dunk in all the wagyu beef slices, drunken chicken pieces, and steamed veggies to your hearts content. Also perfect for sore throats (and hangovers – just saying).

North-siders in desperate need of a wake-up call (and we mean the caffeinated version) should be pleased that Brooklyn-based café and coffee roaster Toby’s Estate has finally hit Jakarta. Besides their signature stimulating blends, Jakarta’s Toby’s Estate also serves light brunch dishes, healthy breakfast bowls, and hearty heaping burgers. South-siders, no need for coffee envy, as another location will be brewing in Gunawarman soon.

Alto at Four Seasons
If your definition of delicious eats means beautiful bowls of fresh pasta, then we’re right there with you. Enter: Alto, the latest rooftop restaurant and bar to open its doors at the new Four Seasons. Serving fancy Italian cuisine in the Four Seasons’ beautiful top floor dining room, Alto is the place to go when you’re really trying to amp it up for a big romantic night out.

Correlate is the brainchild of Chef Juna, best known for being a judge on MasterChef and Hell’s Kitchen Indonesia (our very own Gordon Ramsay!) The casual restaurant’s eclectic menu is inspired by Japanese and French cuisine – a testament to Chef Juna’s backgrounds of cooking in The French Laundry and Uptown Sushi in the US. And we really mean eclectic – there is chasoba, sushi rolls, a gourmet BLT (with gruyere-truffle fries!), fancy salads, you name it. Luckily, if you do feel like trying a bit of everything, there are tapas-style small plates for sharing.

Jakarta’s favourite vegan restaurant opens up a new branch in the leafy neighbourhood of Dharmawangsa. Fittingly next door to one of our favourite yoga studios in the city, Burgreens Dharmawangsa is now around to serve their famous vegan burgers and other yummy meat-free offerings.
