In this month's edition of Hot New Tables: Super Loco, Atico, Fat Shogun, La Maison Pattisserie, and Bo and Bun
As we enter month two of 2017, we’re happy to report that Jakarta’s dining scene is just getting started! From the first Nikkei restaurant in town to a just opened dessert heaven in Central Jakarta, we dish out the best new restaurants worth checking out.
Located in the new BTPN building, Fat Shogun is the first Nikkei eatery in Jakarta! What is Nikkei you ask? It’s a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines – think chopped fresh sashimi in tostados, and sushi rolls stuffed with avocado and slice jalapenos. The well-designed dining room is as hip as it gets in the Kuningan CBD, add in a killer cocktail list and awesome beats, and Fat Shogun has all the makings to set itself up as the place to be on the weekend.

Atico by Javanegra
Our loyal readers will know that we’ve already raved about Javanegra’s latest attempt. Just like its parent restaurant, Atico’s focus is on really, really good food. Its Spanish leaning menu is ala carte this time around, with plenty of complex morsels to go around. As always, we’re absolutely smitten with jamon iberico anywhere on the menu, and their tapas plates are incredible.
Atico by Javanegra, Menara BTPN, Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta. p. +62 21 2295 8194.
Fans of Singapore’s Super Loco will jump for joy at the news of this highly popular Mexican restaurant finally setting up shop in the Big Durian! If you have an intense craving for some seriously good Mexican food – tacos, quesadillas, tostaditas, churros and frozen margaritas, yes please – this is the spot to go in the CBD. If you’re lucky, you can even flag down one of their masked luchadors who are out handing out shots! Talk about a fiesta. Bookings are recommended, as those queues are longgg.

La Maison Patisserie
Got a sweet tooth? So do we! La Maison Patisserie is the next famous franchise to open its doors to Jakarta. The famous macarons from Medan come in a range of exciting flavours like earl grey and mandarin, pineapple crumble, and Thai tea – you’d be hard-pressed not to polish off an entire box.
La Maison Patisserie, Grand Indonesia, East Mall, Rama Lobby, UG Floor. p. +62 811 987 6668.
Bo and Bun
Bo and Bun is a casual South East Asian eatery that comes to the Northside via Bali. Its exotic menu includes a range of cuisines like Vietnamese salad with melt-in-your-mouth pork belly bites, Bulgogi fries with Sriracha aoli, Korean fried chicken wings, and delish crispy Banh Mi.
Bo and Bun, Rukan Garden House Blok B, No. 18C, PIK, North Jakarta.
