Our love affair with bacon is never ending, so when we heard that a restaurant called Baconerie was opening we couldn’t help but start drooling. Sheila Sada opened Baconerie after looking at her options here in Jakarta and she thought she could do it better (which she absolutely does). Sourcing their pork from Bali, Sheila cures her own bacon and ham, and makes her own American-breakfast-style sausages here.
In addition the meat, Sheila also makes her own tomato ketchup, jams, pickled onions, brioche buns and bread for Baconerie’s sandwiches. With a philosophy of 100-percent homemade, Sheila says she would never serve something to her customers that she wouldn’t serve to her children.
At the airy, quaint and rustic restaurant located on a little corner in Kemang, you must try Sheila’s Baconerie Burger, which has a 50-50 bacon-beef patty topped with bacon, yeah, you read that right. It pairs amazingly well with their refreshing Citrusade, a fresh-squeezed lemon or orange juice with a cute glass bottle of Fanta soda water on the side for a little fizz.
Forever on the search for breakfast joints, Baconerie also has a brunch menu that includes a bacon-maple syrup to accompany your pancakes, traditional egg breakfasts with your choice of meat, and an assortment of homemade pastries and cookies. What brunch isn’t complete with something sweet at the end?
If you fall in love with Baconerie the way we did, you can also take home their amazing products. For now, there is only bacon, ham and sausage, but soon you’ll be able to pick up their homemade jams too!
