We’re a fun-loving team, working and playing hard all in the name of keeping you inspired, in the know, and getting the most out of your city – from the hottest new tables to the best boutiques, bars, weekend events and holiday destinations. You’re welcome.
Chris Edwards, Founder & Managing Director
Our fun and ballsy leader is the queen bee. She traded Sydney for Singapore eight years ago and started The Honeycombers because there was no publication she felt ‘spoke to her’. Honeycombers was born out of her desire to connect expats with the abundant fab local culture. She now has Singapore firmly ‘in the palm of her hands’ according to the Australian Financial Review, (yes that’s true!) And if it wasn’t for Chris, none of us would be doing this kick-ass job!
Allie Spencer, Account Manager
Allie started her career in media sales at Turner Broadcasting in the US, focused on Turner’s portfolio of sports such as NBA, Major League Baseball, and NCAA March Madness. She made her way to the UK in 2011, and moved client side to William Grant & Sons. Following a move to Singapore, she continued to work for one of William Grant & Sons’ marketing partners, InnerWorkings, for brands including Hendrick’s Gin, the Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Grant’s.
A huge fan of Honeycombers since the day she landed in Singapore, she jumped at the chance to join the company back in 2014 and return to her media sales roots. She now runs the sales and support teams, while keeping a hand in sales leading product launches and new markets.
Selina Altomonte, Editor of Honeycombers
Selina is a maximalist who thinks that too much of a good thing is sublime. She hails from the media scene in Sydney and London and in her past lives she’s been a publicist, chief sub, travel writer, recipe editor and food writer. She followed her stomach to Singapore, where she joined the Honeycombers team as HoneyKids editor. Now, eating her way around the island as editor of Honeycombers is a dream come true.
Thalia Yanuar, Editor of Honeycombers Jakarta
Thalia’s love for media started early, when she was features editor of her high school magazine. After growing up in Jakarta, she left for university in Boston and was able to freelance at the likes of American Vogue, Juice Magazine, and Rolling Stone Indonesia. In 2011, Thalia relocated to London to dabble in fashion PR at luxury retail concept Matches Fashion. Two years later, she returned to Jakarta and joined the marketing team for Indonesian luxury e-commerce start-up Bobobobo. An avid reader of Honeycombers before she joined the team, she is thrilled to be able to eat, drink, and explore her way through Jakarta in one of the best jobs she can imagine.
Louise Newsham, Editor of Honeycombers Bali
Louise is a self-proclaimed foodie, travel addict and island enthusiast. With an English Degree from King’s College London in her back pocket, Louise moved to Bali five years ago to pursue an editorial career covering Asia’s booming travel, F&B and hospitality industries. Having managed two Asia-Pacific luxury lifestyle magazines, as well as collaborating on a number of international projects for both start-up and well-established brands worldwide, Louise’s experience spans various levels of editorial, publishing and marketing. A long-time fan of Honeycombers’ island coverage, she was thrilled to join the team to lead the Bali platform through the next phase of development.
Sophie Cullen, Editor Honeycombers Hong Kong
Sophie traded mountains, sheep and hobbits for East Asia back in 2004, and she’s never looked back. After k-popping through South Korea, she landed in Hong Kong in 2013, where her weekends are spent scouring the city to add to her vinyl collection and trying to locate the perfect vegetarian dumpling.
Hubab Hood, Video Producer
Before joining Honeycombers, Hubab produced daily entertainment news for E! News Asia as a one-man video production show. He has also managed video and animation production at Attic Films and Double Negative Visual Effects, and gained (minimal) fame doing YouTube videos. He moved to Honeycombers to pursue his passion for lifestyle content, and his secret goal is to one day achieve viral status making cat videos.
Nafeesa Saini, Lifestyle Writer
Nafeesa spends weekends scouring the city for all things hot and new and curating Spotify playlists. She’s usually spotted running off to lunchtime fitness classes, prancing around with a flower crown at EDM festivals or dreaming up ideas for a quirky children’s book. Originally an intern at Honeycombers Singapore, she has recently returned to her first love: hip hop.
Chelsia Tan, Creative Services Editor
Chelsia enjoys perfecting the Shavasana, Netflix marathons, aisle seats and a healthy dose of sardonic humour. She started her editorial career writing and styling both fashion and beauty pages for established women’s magazines in Singapore. Chelsia has since dived into PR before moving back to publishing, where she covered lifestyle topics such as arts and culture, current affairs, and food and drink. At Honeycombers, she focuses her diverse experiences on managing client projects.
