This month we’ve got serious goo-goo eyes for Amandari Villa in Ubud, set amidst lush jungle, verdant rice paddies and enough Balinese-inspired luxe amenities to make you weak at the knees.
While plenty of villas in Bali offer six-star luxury, many of them lose that signature island touch: the authentic Balinese architecture, the naturally-inspired artisanal designs, or that heartwarming, always-smiling hospitality from the local Balinese that’s as addictive as a homemade nasi goreng.
So when we discovered Amandari Villa in Ubud – with its serene Balinese-style homeliness, epic views of cascading rice terraces and the Ayung River Valley, as well as that all-important six-star wow-factor – we just knew we had to step our designer sandals through its luxurious, hand-carved wooden doors.

The villa is part of the drop-dead-swanky Amandari resort, yet totally separated from the main grounds and shaded by coconut groves and rolling rice valleys for ultimate privacy. And with 1,500-square-metres of Balinese-inspired space, the villa is made up of five individual pavilions, three of which house detached terrace-style private bedrooms, whilst the other two feature a glass-walled living room and kitchen, and an al-fresco dining area, ensuring those sensational views of Mother Nature are always in sight.
Outside, the villa is blessed with a beautifully landscaped garden and a two-tiered swimming pool to double the infinity illusion [infinity and beyond, perhaps?]. And while you’re busy chillaxing on the pool terrace, the villa is serviced by two staff to ensure your cocktail glass is always topped up.
Of course, while we’d all be quite happy lazing away the sunshiney days within this Balinese beauty, just in case you get itchy feet the villa is conveniently just minutes from Ubud’s markets, shops, galleries, museums and temples, or you can pop next door to the Amandari Resort and enjoy the on-site cooking classes, spa treatments, restaurants, or adventure treks through the rice fields – just don’t forget your selfie stick…
Happy holidays, Honeys!
