There’s a distinct theme happening at the mo’: travel the world! They’ve got international cuisines covered with hardly leaving Seminyak and a gourmet new burger joint, just to keep us real.
Republik 1945, Seminyak
Fancy Bali’s hippest new Indonesian food, showcasing dishes from all parts of the archipelago? Look no further than Republik 1945, on Jalan Kerobokan. Even Indonesians sing the praises of the authentic, modern Indonesian menu, yet made with traditional recipes, ingredients and cooking methods. And by authentic, they mean authentic (and not just because it’s named after the year of Indonesian Independence): it offers three menu options focusing on Nusantara, Bali or Java dishes. Republik’s menu is as rich in history as in flavour, combining home-style dishes, street-side favorites and traditional selections passed down through the generations. The restaurant is large yet intimate, with beautiful design and chairs so comfy you’ll keep on eating till they kindly remind you they’ve closed.

BO$$ Man, Seminyak
There’s burgers, then there is B U R G E R S. This is no ordinary burger joint, it’s the Man.
Next door neighbour (and parent) Sisterfields obvs paid attention when their burger orders kept going through the roof, so they opened a whole new joint BO$$ Man to give Seminyak even more bun deliciousness. Where to start? Try The Notorious P.I.G. – stuffed with an 18hr pork belly, candied chilli and an Asian ‘slaw; or pulled pork, queso blanco, coriander and a homemade chipotle mayo; or The Gandhi – made with an edamame, quinoa and sunflower seed patty. All around IDR 70,000. Or go to town for the lean, meaty and oh so smokey The Al Capone. If you’re not yet salivating, don’t forget the truffle, porcini & parmesan fries. But the best part? They’re open to 4am every day and they deliver locally. Island of the burger gods, after all yes?
BO$$ Man, Jalan Kayu Cendana No.8b, Seminyak Bali, p. +62 (0)812 3916 7070. Open until 4am daily.
Jamie’s Italian, Kuta
Do Jamie Oliver’s newest international doors need any introduction, other than just ‘yes this restaurant is now open’! The third Asian venue to open behind Singapore and Hong Kong, we’re supremely confident that Jamie’s Italian Bali will naturally be the best of ‘em all just because it’s here on the island – it’s a no brainer. Right next to the Hard Rock Hotel and just off Kuta Beach, you can add ‘fun with a great vibe’ to the international standard of food excellence expected from Mr Oliver’s restaurant empire. The vast Italian menu includes antipasti, pastas, pizzas and has a few stars such as the Lamb Chop Lollipops or Chicken Al Mattone. A lot like Jamie himself – great food mixed with a down to earth approach.
