Whether you're after a five-star, designer meal in a spectacular location, luxurious resort accommodation or both, this address is one to treat yourself to on your next Bali holiday
We love that people are always asking us for the latest and greatest happenings in Bali. And because you’ve asked for even more in the inspiration stakes (aka: drool-factor!) – to go with our informative guides and round-ups of Bali’s best on offer (aka: accessible options for most of us) – we’re going to now bring you our Bali Crush of the Week: villas, rooms, resorts, or experiences to drool over across this beautiful island, that we’ve been lucky enough to experience – and share straight back with you!
To kick off, we’re introducing the award-winning Banyan Tree Bali at Ungasan and their legendary Ju-Ma-Na Restaurant and Bar, on the Bukit peninsula. As an international luxury brand known across the world for their luxe spas and hotels, the Banyan Tree Ungasan has been crowned Bali’s Leading Villa Resort at the 21st Annual World Travel Awards, and Indonesia’s Leading Luxury Resort of the Year 2014/2015.
So it’s safe to say that Banyan Tree are world-famous experts in luxurious resorts. Here in Bali, they command an impressive location in Ungasan, overlooking the Indian Ocean from their high, cliff-top vantage point 70 metres above sea level. It’s a beautiful resort radiating the charm of old-world Balinese touches with the best-of-the-best, modern amenities and technology.
One of the best things about this beautifully presented resort is how easy it is to be seduced by its famous Ju-Ma-Na Restaurant, even if you’re not staying in the resort itself – the food, the views, the setting, the ambience. It’s not surprising to know Bali visitors travel from all over for dinner here (often #1 on TripAdvisor), it’s an exquisite experience of fine food, wine, and service. Our recommendation is to experience their stunning Moonlight Dinners, held on the full moon evening of each month.
With its sultry Moroccan charm, the bar is the perfect vantage point for admiring the Indian Ocean vista, so make the most of the divine setting and come for pre- or post-dinner drinks. With Cosmopolitan cocktails and aperitifs, shisha and Arabian-influenced snacks and drinks, Ju-Ma-Na is a luxurious spot for a beautiful evening of tranquility.
The resort reflects the spirit of a traditional Balinese village, with each villa showcasing contemporary Balinese architecture and landscaped gardens to complement the stunning ocean views. All private villas come with (at least) a 10-metre infinity pool, private jetpool, Balinese bale, tranquil pond walkways and the five-star works. It’s a beautiful setting far, far away from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s tourist scene, yet their complimentary transport can take you there before you know it. Though you’ll be oh-so-happy to return.
