If you are looking for high quality, locally sourced, coffee check out the ultra-cool brew bar in Seminyak, located next to the popular Sisterfields.
Can’t get through your day without a coffee fix? We feel your pain, so we are super excited to reveal that the speciality coffee brew bar, Expat. Roasters, has opened its doors! Located next to culinary hot spot, Sisterfields, it is making waves in Bali as the place for good coffee, funky urban vibes, and a good slice of freshly made banana bread.
So what is it about Expat. Roasters that will surely make it your new go-to for your caffeine fix? Firstly – the brains behind the brew bar. International award winning Barista, Shae Macnamara and successful Australian entrepreneur, Adam McAsey [Director of 8 degree Projects, that is responsible for the popular BO$$ MAN and Sisterfields] have come together on this venture, bringing expertise, knowledge and a flair for what people want when it comes to what they eat and drink. Shae’s obsession with coffee started at just 14 years old, when he forced himself to like the taste of coffee as he loved the vibe of coffee shops so much. This paid off though, as he is now considered a pioneer in the coffee industry, having won many accolades and awards for his barista skills. Expat. Roasters is a passion project of both Adam and Shae’s, driven by a desire to produce an exceptional, unpretentious brew into Bali. Some might say that you can go into any of the cafes in Bali and get a decent latte, but Adam and Shae want to take their customers on a coffee journey. Expat. Roasters is a place to not only enjoy extremely high quality coffee, but also to learn about where coffee comes from, the flavours and how to make a good brew.
Secondly, the coffee of course! Both Adam and Shae reside in Bali, and have therefore had the opportunity to spend a lot of time working closely with the local farmers and producers to source the finest quality products, which then compliment their nomadic collection of coffee beans from around the world. And it doesn’t stop at finding the perfect beans. It’s hard not to miss the state of the art custom designed La Marzocco PB machine sitting in the centre of the bench in the Brew Bar, and it is this, with its built in auto brew ratio scales and independent boilers, that helps scientifically transforms the beans into perfect flavours. The house [named Nomad] blend is a mixture of three Indonesian coffees – an Arche Gayo from Sumatra and two local Balinese beans from the Kintamani region, so grab yours as either an espresso or [for the real coffee connoisseurs] a V60 pourover, and enjoy!
And thirdly, the venue. With the help of Melbourne-based Travis Walton Architects, Expat. Roasters is a place of sophistication and urban cool, with jet black coffee cups and grey concrete walls contrasting to the bright tropical printed shirts the staff are rocking. That, and the delectable array of treats on offer, including freshly made banana bread, filled doughnuts and brownie cookies, as well as coffee, will no doubt make this your number one choice for that all-important caffeine fix!
